SATURDAY, JUNE 29, 1946 LEGION WINS | FROMMOOSE BY 8-5 SCORF SCORE BY INNINGS Team 12 4 7 U Mocse 00 3 15 Legion 2 x 8 The Legicn last night defeated the Moose 8 to 5 in a game in which they were out hit also out errored. For the Legion, it was Jensen, the winning pitcher, striking out six while allowing eight hits. Mc- Daniels was again put in the role of fireman and succeeded in stop- ping the Moosc rally in the sev- enth by striking out the last two hatters. | McDaniels 2lso gathered two doubles at the plate to score two runs and gather two of the Le- gion’s five hits. For the Moose younz Terry Ma- gorty shows promise as a pitcher In four innings he struck out five men and allowed but four hits. Foliowing is the play by play of the innings in which runs were scored. Nielsen, leadoff man for the Le- gion, walked, stole second and scor- ed on a bad throw to third by the pitcher. No hits, one run, two Moose e Tors. The Moose came back to tie it 1 up in the third with T. Magorty making first on an infield ) Deland hit a fielder's choice, and Magorty was safe on second on an infield error. Metcalfe struck out, McIntyre hit into a fielder’s choice, Magorty going out at home. Har- vey hit a fielder’s choice, but De- land beat out the throw at home. Haas singled and Cunningham grounded out to end the inning. One hit, cne run, two Legion er- rors. Legicn Get Five The Legion had their big inning in the bottom half of the third. Nielsen hit a double. Stragier flew out to the pitcher. McDaniels doubled scoring Nielsen. Jensen hit a ball into deep left that the left fielder was able to get his hands en but not in time to catch Mec- Daniels who scored. Rolison hit a hard ball throigh the pitcher’s box and Jensen scored on a bad throw! from second base. Cope and F. Cashen walked to fill the bags. Harry Cashen was safe on an er- ror at first, Rolison and Cope scor- ing. Vuille bunted, Harvey throw- ing him out at first and getting the ball back in time to put Cash- en out at home. Three hits, five runs, three Moose errors. Moose Make Three The Moose made a comeback try in the top half of the fourth in- ning. Magorty ‘walked. Miller singl- ed advancing Magorty to second. The mext batter fanned. Deland singled, scoring Magorty. Miller tried te come home on a passed ball but was caught off home. Metcalfe struck out but was safe on a dropped third strike.
