A similar| handling charge increase is already in effect at the privately-owned Alaska Dock, he said. Though the company's agreement with the city requites Council ap- proval of increases in wharfage, the handling charge is something else, he explained. Wharfage is remain- | ing at the rate of $1.50 per ton.! ‘The handling charge increase is from 75 cents to $1, making 2 new total levy of $250 per ton on car-! go crossing the wharf. The Council Finance and Proper- ties committees are to probe the matter and give the company their views. irain and high wir 10 o'clock Friday|~ WE.
