That, like the Sam Browne belt, has become passe. It's all a part of the Army's plan to do everything possible in back- ing up President Truman's “tight-; en the belt” campaign, to relieve the international food crisis. Army mess sergeants, whose problems are already numerous, have been in- structed to do everything possible to “put more food in the stomachs —less in the garbage can” and have been asked to help the drive by: 1. Studying food preferences of each individual mess and prepar- ing large quantities of only those foods highest in popularity. i 2. Taking advantage of proper refrigeration to cut spoilage. { 3.
