WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 1946 CRIMSON BEARS DEFEAT FIREMEN BY 48-40 SCORE PAA Clippers Take Game E e Last Night from Sig- | e 5 nacs by 29 to 26 The Juneau High Crimson Bears| Substitute defeated Douglas Firemen 48 to 40 Total points and PAA won by a 29-26 margin| over the Signacs last night in the 19th game session of the City Bas- ketball League. The Juneau-Firemen game, more or less evenly-matched in the first half with first and second quarter sccre 11-8 and 22-18 respectiv in Juneau's favor, became dec lop-sided in the third quarter with Juneau 40 and Dougias Firemen 28. Excellent shooting by Stragier (high scorer with 12 points) and Hickey in the last quarter, aid- ed by effective defense coverage from Brown and Jones pulled the score up to only an eight point de- .feat at the game's end. The Crimson Bears, strongly co- F ordinated and fast-moving frem their season of consistant practice, played their usual expert game. Moore continued to show highly- improved shooting skill over games played in the first half of the league.
