True, from Bloomfield, Nebraska. One of our personal favorite {cartoons of many months is that one showing a particularly evil- |looking convict, lying in a prison |bed, gazing blissfully up at his collection of pin-up girls on the wall above. There is no caption to the cartoon; but the pin-ups ‘are a series of extremely hard- {boiled female persons, each photo- graphed with a prison serial num- | ber across her chest. In a hand ,not recognizable as that of the artist, Mr. O. Soglow, all these characters have become identified on our bulletin board,—the name of the criminal, it seems, is “Bill True” and the given names of his girl friends (before they were given numbers) are, = respectively, the ' familiar-sounding names of Audrey, Shirley, Muggsy, Alida and Emma. e o o NAMES IN THE USO NEWS They rate more than just a line or two in this column,—the many fellows and girls who were names in the USO news of the past week. But the limitations of space permit merely the briefest mention of only a very few of the large group which ought to be mentioned here, —GI's and GSO's such as our old friend, Coast Guard Chief Delbert Larson, of Nezperce, Idaho, whose recent return to duty in Juneau was much to the liking of his many local friends. . . . And WAC Sgt. Carol Hoffman, of Detroit,' Mich., whose visit to our clubhouse on Sunday was (surprisingly, but to the best of our knowledge) the first made by any member of that organization at any time. . . . And Russell Karsjens, popular soldier from Steamboat Rock, Iowa, reluct- ant about getting into his initial quiz contest on Tuesday but giving a high-class account of himself, once he got there. . . .
