McGinty The cause for such action was the need felt for continual improve- {ment in health and sanitary con- {ditions in the Territory as they affect the welfare of children. The council also endorsed a health-book shelf to be established | at the Juneau Library for the' benefit of Juneau citizens, both | young and old, who wish to refer| to such material and who hereto- fore have not known where to go to obtain such reference works. Reports were made by the chair- men of the various committees, most gratifying of which was the report of Mrs. Don O. Foster on the fine work of the little girls during the bond drive and the splendid cooperation of the Juneau and Douglas citizens given so gen- erously to the little saleswomen. Mrs. McGinty reported that the council now has a troop- of 24 Brownies with no sponsoring or- ganization. A Christmas party is being planned for this group by v.he Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and |will be held at the American Le- gion Dugout. The nominating committee re- ported nominations for the officers for the ensuing year. Those elected were: Mrs. Scott L. Murphy, Com- missioner; Mrs. Edwin Johnson, Vice-Commissioner; Mrs. Josephine Boyd, Treasurer; Mrs. Anton Hared, Secretary. The newly-elected offi- cers will assume their duties at the January meeting. Following the meeting, Mrs. McGinty served tea for council members, consultants and others, who have worked untiringly for the Girl Scout program in Juneau. The tea table was festive with holiday cakes and a porcupine center-piece of popforn balls and stick candies. —————--— - LEAVES ON TRIP Mrs. Zola Devlin of Devlin’s Store, left on the North Sea for Seattle.
