The Juneau-Douglas Scouts now boast of a membership of 150 girls the Brownie and Girl Scout in treops. The national Scouts organi- | zation is announcing that its mem- \ip has increased from 671,000 Germaine Montabert Originals before Pearl Harbor to more than 1,000,000 girls at the present {time. In many communities long |lists of girls are waiting to partici- pate in the program as soon as suf- ficient leaders ¢an be found to work | with the girls. Reports made by local group re- iporlers follow: | Report of Troop No. 2 | By Beth Daigler Troop No. 2 had its regular meet- |ing at the home of its leader, Mrs ‘Eaxl D. McGinty. All members were present. The song leader, Mary | Nordale, led in “What Can the | Matter Be.” | The following reports on badges | were given: Beth Daigler gave an | interesting report on the care of the flag, and showed the other Girl | Scouts a plan of a four-room. cot- mge and its conveniences. Sylvia lLialer reported on her arts and | crafts by showing us the good and |bad points of six pictures she took feut at Girl Scout Camp. Connie Williams passed interna- {tional friendship and community |life; she gave a demonstration on (how to make e hospital bag. She {also gave the troop a talk on Nor- |way. Elsa Johnson brought a dar- !ling little elephant she had modeled {cut of clay. This passed her on arts and crafts. Deana de Groot showed how to fold the flag properly. Mrs. | Burr Johnson will be lieutenant of {the troop. It was voted to make Christmas boxes for the AWVS and the USO. | The first bateh of boxes were taken jdown to the AWVS today by the chairman, Beth Daigler. The meeting was concluded by saying the laws, the promise, form- ing the wishing circle, goodnight ,and taps. Report of Troop No. 9 By Louise Henning Troop No. 9 has been meeting in |the American Legion Dugout with |Mrs, J. H. Likens as leader. The newly elected officers are: Presi- dent, Rae Peters; Vice-Presideht, |Joan Lesher; Secretary, Ann Louise Henning; Treasurer, Lynn Bodding | Sergeant-at-Arms, Pat Waugh. The |cfficers were honored at a spaghetti |dinner by the other members. The girls are working as a group for the world knowledge badge. Each {girl will be required to make a re-| port, a scrap book and a doll on a foreign country to complete the badge. At the last meeting Ann | Louise Henning gave her report on | China, Mrs. Ruth Popejoy will be present at the next meeting and will report on China, having tra |\d- | ed there.
