Other Southwest Pacific Bombers Hit Various Islands ADVANCED ALLIED HEAD- QUARTERS IN NEW GUINEA, July 12—Southwest Pacific Liber- blasted Yap airdrome in Carolines, this time with 30 tons of bombs, destroying some planes and five of 20 intercepting Zeros in a half-hour fight over the island. The raid occurred Monday, head- quarters announced. Other Southwest Pacific bombers damaged a 10,000-ton ship off Hal- mahera Island, New Guinea, and also bombed the enemy at Sorong, Palau, Woleai in the Carolines, and Rabaul. In the 30-ton Rabaul raid a Jap float plane was sunk, also patrol craft and small boats Medium bombers were used in the attacks. Fighters also harrassed the Japs trapped at Wewak since last April.
