EDIE It seemed like the good old days on Saturday night at the Formal Dance and again yesterday at the Clubhouse. Why? It's no mystery at all. An old friend, and a very special one, was present, in the person of Edith Birkeland Ryan, our one-time USO hostess. Looking at her charming best, and with that old-familiar gleam in her eyes, and |that sparkling repartee of hers even keener than ever, Edie's presence brought back many a fond memory to her host of friends here; and she must have been thrilled over the warmth of her reception. Married in May, her husband is now the navigator of a Flying Fortress and is due for immediate overseas ser- vice. Edie will be leaving soon for Sitka, where she will remain in- definitely.
