Show Place of Juneau NEW SEWERAGE AND WATER PLANS DRAWN FOR HAINES, SKAGWAY | Preliminary plans for a new wa- | ter supply and sewerage System at | Haines and a supplimentary sewer- age system at Skagway were to be turned over today to the Federal | Work Agency for approval. | The plans were drawn by Harold B. Foss and associates in conjunc- tion with engineers of the Terri- torial Department of Health. If ap- | proved, the Foss company will pre- pare final plans, which in turn -will be sent before the Health depart- ment for approval. Credit for the city of Haine'’s |sanction of the idea, goes largely to R. J. Shepard, chairman of the city planning commission, who ex- erted his influence to see the city adopt a new water and sewerage ! system. The water plant will be a gravity ground water system, located about four and one half miles north: of Haines with mains to carry the water to the city where a storage tank and a distribution system will be installed. The sewerage systems in both Skagway and Haines will dump into Lynn Canal. At Skagway, the army has already installed one set of pipes and a sewerage system.
