PAGE SIX ° THE DAILY ALASKA EMPIRE—JUNEAU ALASKA THE TRIANGLE CLEANER HAVE - GONE TO WAR v vears The Triangle Cleaners have given the people of Juneau and Gas el a superior dry cleaning service. During all this time, although operating costs have continued to mount steadily, we refrained from raising our prices in any respect. Now conditions have reached a point which prohibits us from continuing the former price ' level and yet retain the skilled organization necessary to produce quality work. Therefore it is necessary that we retire from the general cleaning and pressing field. FRIDAY NIGHT, FEBRUARY 26th We Close Our Doors To Civilian Trade Thereafter We Will Cleqn Only for the Armed Forces | The plain facts are that last fall, when an increase in prices became an obvious neces- sity, we made telegraphic application to the Office of Price Administration in Washington for a temporary adjustment permitting us'to adopt the same dry cleaning price schedule in effect at Ketchikan. The request was refused. To keep our doors open at that time it was necessary that we proceed contrary to the OPA ruling, and since then we have been a violator of OPA orders. It would be impossible to obey these orders and still operate our business success- fully. There is only one alternative—that of closing our doors to the civilian trade. We take this opportunity to thank those who have been our loyal and satisfied cus- tomers, and to express the hope that when prchibitive pressure shall have ceased, we will again be doing business at the same old stand, with the same good people and offering the same reliable service Juneau has come to expect from Triangle Cleaners . . . Until then, we offer our sincere regrets that this drastic step has been forced upon us and we cherish’ , - e the thought that the Juneau public will fully understand the necessity for our decision. d TRIANGLE GLEANER “for better appearance® ROD DARNELL, Owner
