D. Stewart who said “all mine workers in Alaska numbered nearly 6,000 in 1941, but the number now is reduced. “They are trained men, readily absorbed in the mountainous jobs tion with the war. “Too few of the men do these tasks in the mines. “The mines which also produce badly needed minerals such as platinum, tungsten, antimony, tin and mercury are not affected by the close-down order,” he conelud- ed, “and will continue to operate.” Stewart is in Seattle after a conference in Washington,, D.C., and plans to return immediately to Alaska. - - JUNEAU MAN ARRESTED, A warrant has been issued by U.
