TALMAGE SUCCUMBS HERE OVER WEEKEND [Long-fime Game Commis- sion Employee, Active Mason, Passes Kenyon C. Talmage, 54 years old, longtime employee of the Alaska Game Commission’ and active Ma- son, died Sunday afternoon in St. Ann's Hospital after a long period of failing health. Mr. mage was born in Tac- oma, Wash.,, on July 23, 1888, and came to Alaska at an early age. For many years he operated a mail boat out of Wrangell. 1921, he went to work with the | Bureau of Biological Survey as captain of the vessel Sea Otter. When the Alaska game law be- came effective on August 10, 1925, Mr. Talmage was transferred to the captain and boat operator for the next 14 years. In 1939, he left the sea to become Wildlife Agent at Juneau, and on December 1, 1940, was promoted to the position of Junior Administrative Assistant, a post which he held at the time -of his death. From the point of view! of service, he was the oldest em- ployee of the Alaska Game Com- mission: l He is survived by the widow,, Leona, and four children: Charles E., who is a civilian instructor ini ‘he Air Corps, in Texas; Jack, Ruth and Willis. No definite funeral arrangements have yet been made. Mrs. Tal- mage’s father, E. A. Lindman, of Wrangell, s coming to Juneau for} the services which will be an- nounced later by the Charles W. Many service men are making it their habit to drop in to the Red Shield headquarters on Wednesday with things that need sewing too complicated for their men's skill. They appreciate the help Juneau women give them by spending part of the day in the recreation cente: doing this mending.
