S. 0., Organized Labor is giving this year the funds it would have spent on a Labor Day dance and parade had this not been a war year. It is our means of “Backing them up!” * GREETINGS - - - LABOR DAY was brought about as a holiday in the United States through the efforts of all Organized Labor as a day set aside for the pleasures of the laboring man and to advance the cause of Organized Labor. LABOR DAY this year of 1942 assumes a great- er significance than ever before. In Juneau, and throughout the country, Labor Day has, in the past, been a day of parades, public pro- grams, dances, boxing matches. This year, we are at war and our “at-home” army of workers finds no place in wartime schedules for Labor Day celebrations. Organized Labor in Juneau this year is con- ALL LABOR UNIONS IN JUNEAD - WU LABOR DAY * Many Members of Organized Labor are in the war, others have left our town for defense work, those of us who remain here are irying o do our part foward keeping the regular daily business of life in Juneau infact. * From ORGANIZED LABOR tributing to the City of Juneau for the U. S. 0. fund the money it would have spent on a parade and dance. } This is our means of extending our greetings and good wishes fo the citizens of Juneau and to the boys in uniform. This is our means of saying thank you to the people of Juneau and those businesses which are affected by Labor for their cooperation and support of our effort to provide Juneau with a reliable group of workmen and craftsmen.
