Murray of the CIO today took the position that there is ro megessity for Federal control of wages but that some kind of price eontrol legislation is apparently “imn- mediately necessary.” Ralph Hetzel, Jr., head of the egonomic division of the CIO, read the statement of Murray’s views to the House Bavking Committee. Murray, recuperating from a long illness, sent word that his doctors would not let him appear, “«The CIO head contended that wage increases are not responsible for the current price increases, add- ing that this argument is “being used as a touchstone to justify an attack against organized labor by those who always sought labor's de- struction.” Meanwhile, an all-out price con- trol measure to impose ceilings on virtually everything, including wages, defense profits and agricul- tural products, Wwas offered to Con- gress by Representative Gore, of Tennessee.
