Why, then, must we be subjected to such scathing remarks made by the Doctor and published? Are we not as vitally a part of Juneau as its doctors, lawyers, bankers and merchants? Surely they would not be expected to take such abuse, then why should we? Who pours into the coffers of Alaska at least two-thirds of his monthly income, Dr. Laszlo or the “low type"” defense worker? Who filled the many vacancies of Ji- neau's apartment houses, the big game hunter or these so-called | “bums?” Did the man who so glibly con- demns us pay the school tax to help educate Alaska's children? No, | he came to Alaska for what he could take away, instead of con- tributing to its development. If the good Doctor had looked around small percentage of the defense workers in the bars. Sunrise Times & Crippled FreerFrench U-Boat Escapes Nazis These Free French sailors are showing their happiness at safely returning to an English port after being at the mercy of German warships for two days. Their submarine torpedoed and sank a 4,000-ton Nazi freighter in convoy, then crash-dived.
