In some cases, thi material was distributed in the stores, and in ne i was mailed to the stores’ customers. One of the most important in stances of this cooperation was the nomination by MeCall's magazine in their March Meal Planner of a sal mon and rice casserole as the “Dish of the Month.” This dish was fea- tured as a front page illustration on a mailing to more than a million housewives. The Meal Planner is sent out by leading markets in more than twenty cities. Another feature was in the shop- ping paper, Household Hints dis- tributed to more than a million and a half housewives by independent grocers throughout the country. The April 5 issue of this publication spotlighted a Spanish Salmon Pat- ties dish and included a photograph of the meal. The publishers of this have notified the indust tising office, that the May Vallette, Mar- Red Fugitive Scized 24 issue will devote half of its' front cover to an illustration and recipe for a salmon and vegetable plate. The March issue of Woman's Day, distributed in retail stores to 1,422,- 000 women shoppers carried photo- graphs and recipes for eight salmon dishes. Food News, a publication dis- tributed to middle western house- wives bv a large grocery wholesale firm feature canned salmon photo- graphs on its front page in issues of March 3 and March 31. These suggestions to meal plan- ners to serve canned salmon dishes supplement the advertising carried on by the industry.
