Ackerman's four children but added the “defendant was fully aware of the consequences when he | violated the law.” The Rev after he indicated he reiterated his refusal, based on religous prineiples - COAST GUARD MEN COMPLETE OWN RESCUE Ten Point Arena Guards- men Picked Up by Cut- ter Ariadne in Storm POINT ARENA, Cal, Dec. 27 Ten Coast Guardsmen, lost at se for 48 hours on a mission of merey, began completing their own rescue through heavy surf after being picked up in open boats by the cutter Ariadne. Roy Herling, 21, was the first lost seaman who reached shore and scrambled up, battered, to the pier from a motorized surfboard onto the ground to comment, “Oh boy, does this solid stuff feel good.” He was followed almost im- mediately by Ronald Hieber, 22 who had a blackened, nearly closed eye. He attested the pummeling of the Coast Guardsmen who took io| heavy seas and nearly wrecked in the small open boats. Hieber ex- plaining his black eye said, “A bulk- head just up and struck me.” The men were landed by three fellow Guardsmen at the Point Arena sta- tion, making first series shuttle trips between shore and where the Ari- adne stood about a half mile oif shore. - MEN VS.
