The turmoil and confusion in the | world today has brought the two subjects of Americanism and na- tional defense uppermost in aill our minds. An educational program along these two lines has been car- ried out, chiefly by means of pro- gtams, radio talks and essay con- tests. Twenty-six naval print plates were purchased from National, this being one way of contributing to | the financing of the national de- fense program of the Auxiliary, Community Service In community service many worthwhile projects have been un- | dertaken by the units. Girl Scout troops have been sponsored. One junit purchaed a baby incubator {and presented it to the local hos- pital, Books have been donated to libraries and thousands of maga- zines sent to CCC camps, hospitals and the Pioneers’ Home. These are only a few of the many things ac- complished under the community | service program of the Auxiliary. There are 90 Junior members in the Department. In some units these are divided into two groups, girls from 13 to 18 meeting by | themselves with their own officers | and advisers and the same advisers meeting with the younger group. Juniors are active in helping the unit on Poppy Day, also with food | sales, in the Americanism program and in many other ways. President Visits In July we were very happy to have a visit from our National President, Mrs, Corwith, who visit- ed every unit in the Territory. Her | radio talks were an inspiration to many who were unable to attend | Auxiliary and Legion meetings and | hear her talks to the members. With the installation of our new Department officers another year’s activities will begin. I appreciate deeply the whole-hearted support and cooperation I have had from all Department officers and Chair- men, and also from the individual unit members, and wish to thank you all for having given me the privilege of acting as your Depart- ment President during the preced- ing year.
