FOREST ROADS The Federal Highway Act of 1940 which passed the House some time ago has been reported to the Sen- ate by the Senate Committee on Post Offices and Post Roads and, as so reported, retains in the bill a figure fixed by the House of $500,- 000 per year for the fiscal years 1941 and 1942 for the construction of forest highways in Alaska. Dele- gate Dimond filed with the Chair- man of the Senate Committee, Hon- orable Kenneth McKellar, a state- ment urging that the amount be not reduced and pointing out the need for greatly increased funds for the construction of highways, roads and trails in the Alaska Na- tional Forest areas.
