The Alaska Unemployment Com- pensation Commission received a grant of $7,64389 which is the amount estimated necessary to de- fray the cost of administering the Alaska unemployment compensa- tion act for the next three months. The Territorial Employment Serv- ice received a grant totaling $2,- 771.33 to assist that agency in car- rying on its activities in connection with paying unemployment insur- ance claims in the Territory until | December 31. Over Half Million Reviewing the records -of his of- fice, Wade stated that since the | enactment of the social security act, !the Territory of Alaska has re- ceived in direct grants the sum of $403,826.11 for its old age assistance program; and $83,566.00 for paying the administrative costs of the un- employment compensaton act. The Alaska Territorial Employment Serv- ice has, s e the time the Territory began to pay unemployment insur- ance benefits, received a total of $18268.25 to assist it in carrying out this program. Therefore, the Territory of Al- aska has received a grand total of $505,660.36 {rom the Federal Gov- ernment through the Social Security | Board since the Territory became eligible to receive funds by the amendments of Territorial Jaws.
