There are three exercises that, if done fairly regularly, will help offset this figure trouble, says Cath- arine Van Rensselaer, director of physical education at the American Woman'’s Club in New York. First, and usually considered best is the side-scis s. Lie on one side with your under arm extended under your head. Rest your head on that arm. Bend your upper arm at the elbow and let the tips of your fingers rest lightly on the floor at | the level of your e s a balance. Now raise both legs slightly and | swing them backward and forward alternately — in a scis: ‘motion. Relax your head and shoulders and be careful to do the eexrcise from your hips. Repeat from four to six times on each hip. The sceond exercise goes like this: Lie on one side, stretching the up- permost leg downward and point your toes, then raise that leg straight up at your side. Raise, point and hold—one, two; lower on three. Repeat several times for each leg. For the third exercise, lie on your | back. Put your arms straight out on the floor. Then bring your right leg up so that the toes touch the floor behind your left arm. Repeat this with left. leg and right arm. Five llmes fur each le(, is enough. STUDENT cival F.
