May 30.—When “Dapper Don” Couri:iey, now 52, shot loaded dice here in 1930 with a, seventeen-year-old high school girl, with her honor the stake against his $1,000, she lost. When “Dapper Don” Courtney went before the state board of prison terms and paroles recently at Folsom prison to seek a parole, he lost. Courtney, whose Beau Brummel habits won him his “Dapper Don” nickname, was “sent up” for life here in March, 1937, after convic- tion on a robbery charge. Police say that if his local record like a transportation ticket for a ‘round the world trip. He has been involved in escapes, jail hreaks, rabberies. and statutory offenses here and did a “strétch” in Sing Sing prison, according to the | record.
