GANGSTER FILM 'FEATURED HERE, - GAPITOL BILL |Edward G: f\;(;binsoll and| | Supporting Cast in ! New Production NDAY L MONDAY For the first time in screen his- tory a complete orchestral score Vi supplied for a picture dealing with gangsters in “The Last Gang- ster,” coming to the Capitol Theatre tomorrow with Edward G. Robin- son in the title role. Because the drama deals with the emotions and thoughts of a criminal, rather than his actions, Edward Ward, compo-~ ser, used a musical “under score” to bring out these elements in the picture. A hundred-piece symphony orchestra, playing original Ward compositions, played the music. The new picture tells the story of a gangster, played by Robinson who serves a term in a Federal Prison while his wife marries an- other man and rears their son away from the disgrace of his father. The prisoner is discharged to emerge into a new world. His rvgvneranmxl is the dramatic climax. Action in a penitentiary, inner workings of gangland, .activities in a great newspaper office, and the dramatic struggle of a woman 1o protect her child, furnish highlights. Rose Stradner, glamorous new ac- tress from Vienna, plays the hero- ine and James Stewart the romantic lead as the newspaperman who be- friends and later marries her. Lionel Stander plays the principal comedy character as the gangster's hench- man, and Douglas Scott, John Car- radine and Sidney Blackmer have prominent roles. A double feature, “Danger Pa- trol” and “Riders of the Whistling Skull” ends tonight. —— e " LAST TIMES TONIGHT Townsend Club, Recovery Plan, NEW UNDERSEA ° Is to Be Formed DRAMA SHOWN Mectng 1+ Caled or T AT COLISEUM night—7 o'Clock in b *“Submarine D-1" Is Hele | with Pat O'Brien, Wayne A meeting is called for 7 o'clock tonight, in Union Hall, for the pugs, w Morris, George Brent Recovery Plan.
