Judge Wickersham, the former Delegate to Congress, published and dis- tributed a pamphlet begging the people to preserve the American form of govern- ment by retaining the present two-house legislature. George B. Grigsby, independent candidate for Delegate to Congress, states — “I am opposed to a one-house legislature and urge the people to retain the present form of government.” Albert White, Republican candidate for Delegate to Congres: Alaskan, says — “We are opposed to the unicameral legislature known as the one-house legislature.” In every state where the one-house system has been tried, it has failed. Nineteen states within the last year have refused to adopt the one-house sys- tem. Nebraska is the only state now having that system, which it adopted in 1937, but today the people of Nebraska demand the restoration of the two-house system. The State of New York Constitutional Convention now in session refused to recommend a change to a one-house legislature, and advised against it.
