Money due for the purchase of cooking kits was turned in and the outfits will be ordered at once. Each |scout was commissioned to pick| eight pounds of blue berries for sell- ing as his share for raising money. It was reported that the recently ordered large; silk American flag, would be here in about a week. A plaque as an award for outstand- | ing scoutcraft was received by the local troop from the Bon Marche| in Seattle, in commemoration of the | performance of Douglas Wahto and | Peter Guerrero last fall when the| former, severely wounded by a knife | cut at Nevada Creek, was taken care | of in a heroic manner by the lat-| ter. e - HENRY HALL DIES Another oldtimer of Douglas, Henry Hall, who resided here in the | early days, recently hit the long| trail at Redmond, Oregon, when he | succumbed to a long illness from Bright's disease. A letter to Mayor Kilburn from Hall's wife, the former{ Miss Eva Galloway, who taught| school in Douglas more than 30 years ago, conveyed the sad news. Once a very loyal member of Al- aska Lodge No. 1, LO.O.F., Mr. Hall was accorded burial honors by the Odd Fellows' Lodge of Redmond. The deceased left the Island about the year 1908, going to Montana where he lived until about 1928. He also lived in Kellogg, Idaho, from where he later removed to Oregon. ,e- CONCLUDES SEATTLE VISIT After a two weeks’ vacation spent visiting with friends in Seattle, Miss Elsa Lundell is scheduled to arrive here Saturday on the Baranof.
