Communication has taken the lead. Now trans- portation must forge ahead to keep abreast of the new Alaska. The International Highway must be estab- lished, linking the States with the Territory by road, and regular scheduled air lines must follow as they are bound to do. But talking from Alaska to the States by radiotelephone and thence to destina- tion in the States by land wire is a comparatively new venture in the world of communication. It is in- spiring and opens up a vista of great possibilities. o DO L For business it means a great saving in time and money. I probably will mean the elimination of many long delays, often resulting in forced trips to the Outside. Telegraphic messages have been a great service, but a telegraphic message can never be as adequate as word of mouth. A detail in a busi- ness deal which ordinarily might require the ex- change of many telegrams or radiograms to iron out now might well be settled by the interested parties talking to each other on the phone, just as they would talk across the desk or table in an office. Not only does it speed up communication, but it broadens it so that business can be more adequately transacted. i Americanism: Paying hundreds of smart lawyers ens. | tion, for listing blank.
