Blanton went the honors of the Rookie rolling last ev- ening at the Elks’. Not only did he compile the high total of the night, 549, but he rolled the second high game, 202. Only one other bowler ‘managed to score a single game over the two century mark,‘ Ken Kyler, who topped the single games with a 213. Likewise, only one Rookie besides Dr. Blanton was able to top the half-thousand mark, Leonard Holmquist, who took sec- ond spot in the set-scoring with a 535. Dr. ‘Blanton and the other Pin- tails, in taking two games of their opening match from the Sandpipers compiled the high team game of the night, 539, but it was the Kyler and, the Hell Divers who rolled up the biggest team total, 1468, better by one pin than Holmquist and the Condors. match with the Kingfishers, but the Hell Divers dropped one game’ of theirs to the Seagulls.
