BRINGING UP FATHER REMEMBER MAGGIE - WHEN BROUGHT H HARRISON THE PAI TEAM DEFEATS JUNEAU SQUAD Winners Take Nearly 1200 Pin Edge in Thirty Game Tourney ANCHORAGE, Alaska, Feb. 26.— Final sets in the bowling division of the Winter Sports Carnival here rolled Wednesday evening and yes- terday afternoon, saw the Anchor- age alleymen emerge as tourney winners with a margin of 1,189 pins over the Juneau Elks’ invaders. In the ten sets rolled, Anchor- age knocked over a total of 27,650 pins, while the Juneau rollers lev- eled 26,461. R. H. Stevenson, of Juneau, rolled the high set score of the tourney Wednesday night, when he put to- gether three games for a total of 641 pins. In the Wednesday evening set, Juneau chopped down the Anchor- age lead by 66 points, rolling 2,828, to 2,762 for the locals. But Anchor- age got back the 66 pins and an even dozen more besides yesterday afternoon, when the local pinmen compiled a set total of 2,789 to 2,645 for Juneau. Though outclassed by the top men among the Anchorage bowlers, the Juneau lodgemen were expected to finish in front without serious difficulty last night when they were to meet the Anchorage ladies’ team. The closing match of the night was featured by the tied game with which the Sandpipers and the Bea- gles opened their match. Both squads ended their first game with 483 totals, and to settle the ques- ‘ion, it was decided that the win- ning trio in the second engagement of the match receive credit for the win in the tied game. The Beagles thereupon went out and rolled the second high team game of the night, 527, to gain credit | for two games won, and by so doing eked out the match, as the Sand- Ipipers came back to outclass the winners in the final encounter. In the curtain-raiser match, the Pintails edged out the Seagulls by 'one pin in the opening game; and that proved to be their margin of victory, as the other two games were split. Bill Redling’s top performance was a two hundred game, included in a 540 match total. His cohort, J. C. Reynolds, came through with the second high single of the night, ‘only one pin shy of the two cen- tury mark. Jimmy Connors, of the winning Magpies ran up a 511 total to place in the set scoring, while R. R. Hermann, of the Pintails, was third with the only other total! above five hundred. ‘The Kingfishers’ high team mark: were a 538 game and a 1473 sel total.
