Carlyle of Cordova, liquor enforcement officer, is in Juneau and the PFirst Division making an investigation of liquor conditions in this Division, report of which will be made to the Territorial Board of Liquor Control, it was an- nounced today by Oscar Olson, Ter- ritorial Treasurer, who has charge of the enforcement branch of the Liquor Boards activities. “Mr. Carlyle i§ gé™ng thoroughly into the matter of whether regu- lations are being observed and the effects of violations,” Mr. Olson said, “and will make a full report to the Board on his findings, the Board then taking action if it feels the situation warrants it.” Mr. Olson’s announcement came after repeated reports that raids were being made in Juneau and other places in the First Division and licenses were being revoked. The Treasurer said an investigation into reported unsatisfactory con- ditions were being made and that action might follow the general survey. Mr. Carlyle has been in the Bristol Bay area during the sum- mer, the Treasurer said, and his work in that district has resulted in a great improvement in condi- tions' relative to liquor. e~ e—— Investigate Pills as Cure for Hunger NANKING, China, Sept. 18 —The Famine Relief Commission of the northwestern Province of Kansu, where about half the populace suf- fers from chronic lack of food, is investigating the use of pills or ancient formula as a “sure cure” for hunger. i Sesame seeds, soy beans and medicinal herbs are believed to be the chief ingredients of the pills.
