By CLIFF STERRETT HUNTERS BAG EAR, DEER AND GOAT TROPHIES Dr. and Mrs. H. E. Thomp- son Here on Campbell Church Yacht The Campbell Church big game | yacht Nooya, under charter to Dr and Mrs. H. E. Thompson of Nashua, New Hampshire, docked at Fem- mers' Dock last evening and left at 11 o'clock this morning to continue » month’s hunting trip in South- east Alaska. Both the surgeon and his wife are ardent big game hunters, and are teking out a good collection of trop- | hies for their vacation cruise. Three brown bear, one of them with a skin measuring 11 feet long, two goats and one deer, as well as 6,- 200 feet of moving picture film, con- stitute their present collection, and before completing the cruise at Pet- ersburg on September 16 they are going after black bear and possibly another brownie. Even Oscar Oberg of Juneau, reg- istered guide conducting the party admits that 11 feet is considerable length for a bear. Coming Again “We've hunted about all of game sections except Africa, Dr. Thompson this morning, guess we'll be coming back to Al- aska again. Next time we want to get some mountain sheep, and then we'd like to go up and get some polar bears and walrus.” Something of an argument de- HOTEL GASTINEAU Every Effort Made for the Comfort of the Guests! While near Ket- | chikan the doctor bagged - one,} weighing more than 380 pounds, and ! it was exhibited in Ketchikan. Rela- tives of Mrs. Thorhpson wired up to save them the porpoise teeth and now Dr. Thonipson doesn’t know whether it is a joke or whether the; perpoise really is so equipped. Cap- tain T. A. I. MeDonald, in command | of the Nooya, says they do not, but Oscar Oberg thinks that some of them do. The doctor says he'll have| to get another one to find out. The party left Seattle aboard the neau on the way up August 23 and 24. From here they went to Glacien Bay, Chichagof Island and Admir-i alty. Much of the hunting was done, on Admiralty Island, below Lake Florence. The party will cruise in the vicinity of Kupreanof Island, probably going into Hamilten or Portage Bay after black bear, and| then go to Petersburg. Mrs. Thompson's Trophies Mrs. Thompson accounted for one of the bears and one goat, the'doc- tor meantime shooting the entire scene with the movies, including pictures of the goat tumbling off @ cliff after being shot.
