Report from Fairbanks today said the hospital there was filled with cases of suspected scarlet fever |and 10 developed cases were con- fined in homes or hospital. A gen- eral quarantine is in effect on the schools, theatres and public gath- erings in a hope of checking the disease at the outset. Throughout the Territory precau- tionary measures are being taken to prevent spread of the disease. Con- ditions are reported acute in Fairbanks now because of the fact there are only two physicians and no isolation hospital. WARNING AT ANCHORAGE ANCHORAGE, Alaska, Jan. 4.— Dr. A. 8. Walkowski, Health Offi- cer, yesterday warned parents against scarlet fever, an epidemic of which is reported in Fairbanks. He said to keep children away from the station of the Alaska Railroad as the disease might be carried by passengers from the Interior. Z. J. Loussac, city custodian of scarlet fever serum, said he had a _ | supply here for 150 patients. ————— NOTICE B. P. W. C.
