CORDOVA FIRE DOES DAMAGE OF $§250,000 Pioneer Sea , Food Cannery, Warehouse, 14 Gas- boats Destroyed Fire destroyed the Pioneer Sea Food cannery and ware}wusc at Cor- dova last Saturday according to a report brought here by the steamer Yukon. Fourteen gasboats were also destroyed and the damage is esti- mated at $250,000. The fire was started by the back- fire from a gasboat and firemen were, hampered in fighting the blaze as the water froze in the hose, accord- ing to the Yukon's report. PARKS GIVES DAMAGES SEATTLE, Dec. 2.—James Parks, President of the Pioneer Sea Foods Company, said that on the basis of reports now available, the loss from the cannery fire at Eyak, near Cor- dova, will be at least $200,000, not | fully covered by insurance Parks said he understands 70 fish- ing boats were stored, half owned by the company and the other half | owned independently, and these were burned. e ZAPORA SCHEDULED HERE AT MIDNIGHT| Motorship Zapora, of the Alaska Transportation Company, is due 17 arrive at Femmer's Dock at mid-| night tonight from Seattle.
