TO THE VICTOR GOES CAKE ;REPORTER HAD BREAKFAST,HOWEVER The Empire reporter who “cov- ers” the City Hall is ready to ad- mit that, when it comes to cake, politics has this newspaper business beat four ways to Christmas. As is his usual habit, The Empire reporter dropped in at City Clerk A. W. Henning’s office this morn- ing. It wasn't long before his rov- ing eye spotted a lucious three- layer cake, covered plentifully with inviting marshmallow frosting. Warning the reporter to keep his hands to himself, Henning explain- ed that it was a congratulatory gift from Mike M. Daniloff of the Star Bakery to Mayor Isadore Gold- stein upon his re-election Tuesday. Then, Henning offered the reporter a piece of the cake. But no Empire reporter must take anything that looks “suspic- jous.” Besides, he reported he had| just eaten breakfast. it DAILY EMPIRE WANT ADS PAY! 1 HEERED THAR - COLOR Charley Gelbert r | ‘Washingm State Grid | Mentor.
