Smith, Forest Ranger in charge of the Chugach National Forest in the Prince William Sound area for the United States Forest Service, is aboard the steamer Al- aska southbound to receive treat- ment from an eye specialist in Seattle, according to information received by Wellman Holbrook, As- sistant Regional Forester. Mr. Smith’s left eye was injured by a devil club thorn in October, 1926, when he was Forest Ranger in charge of the Admiralty Divis- ion with headquarters at Juneau. At that time he went south to see a specialist but physicians saild there was nothing to be done. Re- cently the eye has bothered Him severely, he wrote Mr. Holbrook.
