By MARGARET IVES Written Especially for the Daily Alaska Empire For years 1 have wanted a lovely home. Not a home beyond our means. Not neces: sarily a home of dreams. We have a house. It is almost free of all encumbrances now. But it lacks the kind of floors that I would like to have in it. The Heatin plant is about done for—antiquated, inefficient, inadequate. The trim, the woodwi and the walls are not modern by any means. The lighting fixtures are about the date of 1910. My house lacks practically all the things that make a house a lovely home, And what it lacks not only fills us with desire, but it takes from the sales value of our property. Today we could not get nearly what we paid for our house if we had to sell it. We have enjoyed a fair income; fair ¢nough for us to buy a home, almost pay for it in full. But we have never uulm'llated the needed amount of ;mioney to do the repzir and remodeling job at any one particular time. But today we can do it—and we intend’to do it.
