This nicture, the fourth inde- | pendent etfort by Jesse L. Lasky, season in fine dramatic teamwork, has been produced on an elabor- te scale, somewhat similar to “Cavalcade.” The picture was di- rected by Frank Lloyd, maker of ‘iCavalcade,” and boas:s a notable cast headed by Leslie Howard and Heather Angel. “Berkeley Squarc,” which played twice in London and for eight months on Breawny as a play is unusual in thceme. The story con- ci°ns itself wica a man of the p.€sent who believes the past still eists. His desire -to take himself back 150 years becomes so great that he forgets the present and finds himself living in the eigh- teenth century. As a man of the present living in the past Leslie; Howard finds he has many diffi- cult problems to solve, the most importart of which is his love fur Heathe: Angel. The mutual attrac- tion of these two people, each from a different era, gives “Berke- ley Square” the unusual touch that has made it the talk of the country. Leslie Howard who has a diffi- cult role to portray, is said to give an inspired performance that outdoes any of his former roles. Heather Angel who is seen oOppo- site Howard plays her moss im- portant role to date. The remain- ing members of the cast include Valerie Taylor, Irene Browne, Olaf Hytten, Beryl Mercer, Colin Keith- Johnston, Alan Mowbray, Juliette Compton, Betty Lawford, Ferdi- nand Gottschalk, Samuel Hinds and David Torrence.
