Joseph Ramsauer, master, and J. E. He- witt, purser, arrived this morning at 10:30 o'clock, and was due to sail for Seattle at 4 o'clock this afternoon. The Haleakala has a list of 199 round trip passengers, and with every effort being made today to care for the many applicants for passage south, local agents stated that it was likely that many would have to be turned away for lack of space to accommodate them. Those arriving in Juneau wers the Rev. A. P. Kashevaroff and Mr. and Mrs. Fred K. Ordway from 8itka; Mr. and Mrs Joseph Paddock from Haines; Carl Wirth froM Ketchikan; and E. A. De- Witt from Skagway. Cargo for Juneau consisted of two new Pontiac sedans for the (,onnols Motor Company D EVELYN BERG SAILS . FROM SEATTLE FO JUNEAU TOMORROW Despite rumors to the contrary, the steamer Evelyn Berg is still sailing under the flag of the Northwestern Steamship Company, according to reliable sources of in- formation. Her last trip north was interrupted at Ketchikan for a hurried voyage south with canned salmon from the Metlakatla can- nery of J. E. Berg, who also owns the steamer. The cannery is said to have become jammed with salmon, all available storage space exhausted, and Mr. Berg insisted upon the vessel taking enough south to re- ~ |move the danger of enforced clos- |ing down of operations. The Evelyn Berg is to sail from Seattle tomorrow for Chatham Straits points and Juneau, turning south from here. — e Dave Doran, popular and genial purser on the steamer Alaska, is confined to his bed this trip with a badly inflamed leg, which must be kept propped up in the air. The ailment came on him after having a tooth pulled the night before leaving Seattle. By the time he reached" Ketchikan, it was in serious comdition and Dr. J. V Ellis gave him medical attention JUNEAT] Drug Co. “THE CORNER DRUG: STORE" P O. Substation Ne. 1 FREE DELIVERY FINE ! Accerding to reliable sources, no further interruption of operations |is expected this season, and larger quantities of fish are being taken every day. It is anticipated that there will be good money to be made by the fishermen for at least | two months more. Sales in Juneau this morning were small, consisting of several trolling boats taken by E. E. Eng- strom and W. O. Carlson, with one packer, the Fern, Capt. John Low- ell, delivering 15,000 pounds to Mr. Carlson last evening. Packers due in this afternoon and evening, however, for both in- dependent buyers and the Alaska Trollers’ Cooperative Marketing As- sociation, are expected to swell the day’s salmon receipts to around 150,000 pounds, a record for the season. About half of that amount is to be brought by the Asso ciation packers from Sitka., PSS SN, HAS BLOOD POISONING Charles L. Sadier, employee of the Hirst-Chichagof Mining Com- pany at Kimshan Cove, came to Juneau in the seaplane Baranof Wednesday evening to receive treatment for blood poisoning started in his left thumb.
