HAI.IBUT FARES JUNE 30 TOTAL 21,002,832 POUNDS lFour-Mon—t: Take This Year Exceeds Take of Five Months in 1933 Halibut landing in Pacific Coast ports to the end of June, last, | aggregated 27,002,832 pounds from areas two and three, according to official corrected figures issued by the International Fisheries Com- mission. June landings from both areas totaled 7,001,409 pounds. The total for the period from March 1 to June 30, this year was 2,352,779 pounds larger than that taken during the period February- June in 1933 when the total was 24,650,053 pounds. The increase is about evenly di- vided between the two areas. In area two, out of the total of 15,- 217,162 pounds this year, the Am- erican fleet took 9,092,348 pounds as compared to 9,704,908 last year, a decrease of more than 600,000 nds. The Canadian fleet in- sed from 4903461 last year to 6,124,814 pounds this year. The situation shows a reversal in area three. In that region, the American fleet's landings jumped to 1161633 pounds from 9,820,516 pounds. Few Canadian boats fish ion the western banks as long as area two is open. The take there by them to June 30 was 169,317 ‘pounds against 221,168 pounds last year. The plane will remain in the Lynn Canal city practically all day while Mr. Meherin and Mr. Van Mavern conduct business there, and is due back in Juneau late this afternoon or evening. ‘Tomorrow the Patco is scheduled to make a round trip to Hoonah and Sitka, according to C. V. Kay, company manager. ESTEBETH LEAVES LAST NIGHT FOR SITKA ROUND TRIP The ' motorship Estebeth, Capt. Edward Bach, and Purser David Ram say, left Juneau last evening at 6 o'clock on the regular weekly| = mail run to Sitka and wayports, which is making a few trips pend- ing the arrival of the Kenai, to take over the mail contract. Passengers leaving on the Es- tebeth were Alex Larose and Lauri Aspion for Hoonah, and John Susil and Mrs. Mary Gorham for Sitka. The Estebeth is due back here Sunday.
