THE DAILY ALASKA 7 AP FREE CONCERT BIVEN FRIDAY Juneau High h Schiool Girls' Glee Club and A Cap-, pella Chorus to Appear The Juneau High School Girl's Glee Club and the A Cappella chorus presents the first all voeal concert Friday night at eight o'clock in the grade school audi- torium. The concert is the result of Miss Alice G. Palmer's two years work in the Juneau schools. The A Cappella chorus is making its first appearance and will sing @ group of six and eight part ne- gro spirituals. The last number on the pro- gram, a Sixteenth Century number of Palestsinas, Gloria Patri, will be sung antiplonally and in Latin by the Girls' Glee Club. Mary VanderLeest, Patricia Har- land and Bill Lowe will sing solos. p The Girls’ Glee club .is composed of Patricia Harland, Marie Bus- singer, Corrinne Jenne and Carol Robertson and it will be their first appearance. J. Balog. Mrs. Gharles Fox turned over the gavel to Mrs. Balog, the new president, Other of- ficers installed were: Vice-Presi- dent, Mrs. H. L. Cochran; secre- tary, Mrs. Elton Engstrom, and treasurer, Mrs. A. E. Goetz. Mrs. Richard McCormick was welcomed into_the club as a new member last night. After the Graduation’ Exercises, May 24, the club will give a dance in the Eagles' Hall with Edwards and Niemi furnishing the music. The graduating seniors will be the honor guests. Committees are as follows: Hall, Mrs. Jack Sey; Music, Mrs. A. R. Edwards, and tickets at the door, Mrs. Jack Langseth and Mrs. R&e Davis. Narrowly Escapes Death, India DARJEELING, Bengal, India, May 10—Governor-General Sir John ‘Anderson, uncompromising foe of Indian terrorists, barely escaped as- sassination yesterday at the hands of two Bengalis, both of whom were shot down by the police. - ® The attempted assassins were identified as Dacca terrorists.
