RAVEN HAS TAKEN POSITION IN WASHINGTON City Superintendent of Schools: Resigns After Seven Yearsin Juneau After seven years with the Ju- neau Public Schools, nearly four of which he was City Superin- tendent, R.'S. Raven has submitted his resignation to accept the Sup- erintendency of Schools at Marys- ville, Washington; it was announced by the Juneau School Board today. The resignation is to take effect on or before September 1, 1934. Mr. Raven came to Juneau as principal of the high school in the fall of 1927 and became Superin- tendent the middle of the year 1930, upon the resignation of W. K. Keller, who became Territorial Commissioner of Education at that time. He has been Superintendent since then, and has, in addition, taken an active part in the life of the city. ’ Many Activities A member of the American Le- gion, Mr. Raven took an interested part in the organization activities faithfully attending meetings and is nmow acting as Service Officer of it. He is also a member of the Hrottish Kite body of Masons, and is at this time an officer in the Blue Lodge. For the last four summers Mr. Raven has attended the University of Washington summer school and last August received his degree as Master of Arts. Before coming to Juneau, Mr./Raven acted as prin- cipal of the' Silah High School at Silah, Washington. 7 Years Long Enough Samuel Insull (above) landed today at Princetown Junction, New Jersey, from Greece, and was placed aboard a Chicage bound train which left immediately for the scene c¢f his utilities ventures.
