Raft, who heretofore has always| been portrayed as a “public en-| emy” on the screen, is this time on ihe side of the law. He plays the role of the detective. MlssI Skipworth has an amusing role as a doughty duchess. \ Much of the action of the piece | takes place in the supper club which the gang uses as a “front” for its operations. Raft comes here,' posing as an American crook, and, after outwitting Brook and Miss Vinson on several attempted thefts, | gets himself accepted as a mem- ber of the ring. His plans go awry when he finds himself falling in love with the girl, however, and the develop- ments from that time on are high- ly dramatic. | 2Zane Grey's “Man of the For-' est,” twenty-ninth of his novels to reach the screen, is the second full length feature picture on the Coliseum theatre’s program, with Randolph Scott, Harry Carey, Noah Beery, Verna Hillie and Buster Crabbe in leading roles in this thrilling drama. Like other Zane Grey stories, “Man of the Forest,” is an action- drama. Every moment is crowded with red-blooded, two-fisted action, and there’s plenty of hard riding and bitter gun play in it as well. The story centers around Scott, the man of the forest, who over-| hears a plot concocted by Beery, the menace, to capture Miss Hil- lie. She has been sent for by Car- ey, her uncle, so that the latter AGAINST ACTOR . | Mrs. Richard Bennett Is| Seeking Separate Main- tenance, Court Action LOS ANGELES, Cal, May 2— Charges that Richard Bennett, fa- mous actor, stabbed her in the| cheek with a nail file, beat her| and threatened her life, are made| by his wife in a separate main-| tenance action demanding $3,000 monthly alimony.
