E. Schombel, United States Com- missioner at Haines, O, J. Sulli- van, Deputy United States Mar- shal, B. A. Barnett and W. L., (Roy) Dolgner, against A. 8. Bradbury, Judson Brown, Joe Glover and Ed. Hillerbrand. Malicious libel, is -alleged as the cause of action. The plaintiffs are represented by R. B. Baumgartner and Albert White. The suit grows out of a petition circulated in Haines several weeks ago in which the plaintiffs were charged with having used the Civil Works program at Haines for their own personal and political advan- tage. They made up the local Un- | employment Relief Committee of ' which Sullivan was chairman. The petition, which was forward- ed to the Territorial PWA authori- ties, is declaréd by the plaintiffs to have been “false, scandalous, malicious and defamatory lipel” Among other things it charged “that the CWA work in Haines is being used in a corrupt fashion for political purposes by the present employment committee.” It further asserted: “We believe the corruption, discrimination and prejudice is due g.ureczly to, the leadership of Mr. O.
