As. the ship’s orchestra played “Hail, Hail, The Gang's All Here,” 307 passen- gers, many of them mining men, ' bound for the gold fields of Alaska | boarded the steamer Yukon which sailed 45 minutes late last Batur- day morning due to the jam of | passengers and well wishers. Gold talk filled the air and the scene rivalled the sailings dur- .ing the Klondike days as a crowd estimated at 3,000 gathered at the sailing of the Yukon. The Yukon has the largest | northbound cargo of the year, 2- 400 tons of revenue freight, in- cluding an airplane, half a dozen| and large pieces of mles of lumber. T. The Union refused to consider the packers’ offer of 10 cents a pound from May 1 to July 31, six cents from August 1 to August 10, and four cents from August 10 to August 25.
