YUKON MODERNIZED; IS DUE TOMORROW Generally Overhauled Dur- ing Winter — Public Inspection Invited The Yukon, sailing forth from Seattle last Saturday on her first run after an extensive winter over- hauling at the Alaska Line's West Seattle yards, is due to arrive in Juneau tomorrow. | According to T. B. Wilson, vice- president and general manager of the Alaska Steamship Company, over $65,000 has been spent in ov- erhauling and modernizing the Yukon, an expenditure which not only makes her one of the finest amd most modern ships on the Pa- cific Coast, but which also has afforded much needed employment during the past winter. There will be ample time, while the Yukon is in port, to make a complete inspec- tion tour of this modern, up-to- date liner and the ship’s orchestra will entertain visitors during its stay. Extensive improvements | According to Mr. Wilson, the extensive improvements which have just been completed on the Yukon are in keeping with the Alaska Steamship Company's policy of maintaining its fleet of Alaska pas- senger vessels in the pink of con- dition, thereby affording Alaskans the very finest in modern trans- portation service. The entire ship has been repainted, both inside and out, and lower deck passage- ways have been co_vered with rub- ber tiling, replacing the carpeting generally used. The boat deck has been completely recanvassed. All furniture and upholstery has been renovated throughout the ship and modern furniture installed in the after social square and smoking room.
