Smelting lost three and one half points. predomin- D'GROOT TRIAL ENDS: FATE NOW IN JURY'S HANDS The Harold DeGroot murder case in the Federal District Court mov- ed rapidly to a close today and DeGroot's fate was expected to rest in the hands of the jury be- nodn. Evidence in the case was com- pleted yesterday afternoon when Asst. District Attorney G. W. Fol- ta completed his cross examination of the man accused of murder for the shooting of Abe Hanson last March 22, and both sides intro- | duced minor evidence in rebuttal and surrebuttal DeGroot stood up well under | his cross questioning. He main- tained to the end that he was repeatedly threatened by Hanson during two days preceding the | shooting and that at the time he | shot he was convinced Hanson was about to shoot him. Mr, Folta opened for the Gov- | ernment this morning, outlining the evidence presented. H. L. Faulkner addressed the jury in the opening address for DeGroot.
