Nothing Stop You From Enjoying This Sensation N e et DAILY AL It's Here AEMPIRE, THURSDAY, APRIL 20, 1933, '‘6RAND HOTEL' COMES TONIGHT TO THE GAPITOL Long Awaited All-Star Pic- ture Arrives for Ju- neau Showing Long waited, the ‘most-talked-of talkie, “Grand Hotel,” will open at Eric, Paulson’s Capitol Theatre tonight. This is not just another movie. Everyone has read it. Everyone has waited for months to see it. Of paramount interest to the picture-going public is the tre- mendous; cast. Greta Garbo, John Barrymore, Joan 'Crawford, Wal- lace Beery, Lionel Barrymore, Jean Hersholt, Lewis Stone and a host of others, we are told, contrive to transfer Vickie Baum's story to the screen with an authenticity and realism that is difficult to re- alize until the picture has been seen. 4 Titled Theif Greta Garbo is ‘Grusinskaya, the temperamental ballerina, ©~ John | Barrymore is the titled thief who || steals her gems—and love as well. Joan Crawford is the sex-appeal- ing stenographer whose charms cause the downfall of Preysing, in- dustrial magnate, played by Wal- impressive. Instead of bringing the drama to the audience, he takes the audience into the hotel and allows it to see and hear what is going on, quite as though it were part of the cosmopolitan throhg itself. The settings are extraordinarily imposing and lend a distinctive character to the backgrounds, Of course, it is the drama ifself that ocoupies ‘the greatest interest but the appeal of the great cast can- not be denied. After seeing the Irllm version, the stage showing of the Vicki Baum play could never suffice.
