It is a convenience to every citizen of this community. It helps to build up the country around Juneau. It gives an opportunity to the people not owning cars a chance to get out in the country at a very reasonable cost. It is a great convenience for the merchant in sending small parcels to his customers out the hlghway, and a help to the people out the highway to order from your city by the Bus. Saving time and You have been misled by certain parties regarding Ordinance 211 granting a franchise This franchise grants the right to use certain streets in passmg' i and out of the cnty of Juneau not for using all the streets in the' city. It does not in anyway interfere with any rights now enjoyed by taxicabs or others. No city in Alaska can grant an EXCLUSIVE franchise to anyone . for anything. Ask any lawyer you meét befnre you vote and he will give you this fact. All this franchlse aos for the operator is this: It as- sures him of the right to opeérate a bus line so long as he lives up to the rules set forth in said franchise. It puts the Bus Line under the jurisdiction of your City Council as to the fares to be charged, the kind of equipment to be used and. the conition of said equipment, the amount of insurance to be carried for the protection of the public, etc. Dot forget that yon can vote YES on this franchise ordinance and can also gmnt another franchise to any other Bus Line you want using the streets of Juneau. It is better not to vote than to vote on an ordinance you dor’t understand.
