THE DAILY ALASKA EMPIRE, THURSDAY, MARCH 30, CAPITOL Now Playing See picture that will live as a record of hi genius! 1933. DIVORCE 1S NOT THEME OF DRAMA AT THE CAPITOL Title of Ba;):;ore Picture Fals to Reveal Real Force of Great Story True of many motion pictures— of novels and stage plays as well— the title of “A Bill of Divorcement,” which will be shown at the Capitol theatre tonight, does not fittingly describe the nature of the story. For “A Bill of Divorcement” is not a divorce problem play, neither does it touch upon the tragic re- sults of a sudden marital discord, nor does it in any way attempt to draw a moral from domestic infel- icity or unfaithfulness. Rather, the picture ascends to heights of sheer sacrificial drama; the drama of woman's courage, of man’s dependency, and a young girl's tragic disillusionment. Divarce as such is incidental to the theme. The film stars John Barryomre in what has been described as his greatest role; a characterization new to him and new to his vast audience of admirers and follow- ers. Playing in featured support are Katharine Hepburn, a glamorous newcomer to the screen for whom stardom is predicted, and Billie Burke, one of the greatest actress- es of the American stage. The pic~ ture was dxrected by George Cukor.
