MISS HALVORSEN SPEAKS OF NEW SPRING STYLES iLatest | 93;Fashions De- scribed in Detail by Juneau Shop Buyer Intéresting details of the ad- vanced spring styles were brought back from the south by Miss Christine Halvorsen of Halvorsen’s |Incorporated, who returnéd from her annual spring buying trip to Pacific Coast cities on the steam- er Adaska. While away she observed and selected new clothes in : Seattle. Portland, San PFrancisco, Los An- geles and, last but not least, §ol- lywood. Owing to the large num- ber of very clothes conscious mov- ing picture -stars in the latter place, Hollywood is developing styles of .its own and adding indi- vidual touches to the fashions that are developed in Paris and New York, Miss Halvorsen said. Spring Style Notes “The cape as a silbouetie influ- ence for spring coats is enhanced by fur trimming, fabric collars and {sleeve detail. The \detachable idea is stressed where fur . trimmings {are sponsored, thus giving a dou- ble duty type garment,” Miss Hal- vorsen said. Materials and Colors “Smooth crepe worsteds and cashmere suedes are.endorsed for dress wear while rough crepe weaves, novelty tweeds and velour polars are smart for utility and sports wear. The colors most in favor are black, all shades of blue ranging from wvery deep navy to the new Roosevelt. Blue, smoke and dove gray, dull: green and soft shades of brown and beige. Suits Fashion’s Favorite “Suits are once more fashion's favorite for spring. Boxy jackets, three quarter 'coats that hang straight from square shouldered yokes, full length coats that are || unbelted and of swagger lines, the tailored finger tip model, mannish in detail constitute suits for every type of figure. All of these are shown in twills, tweels, rough crepes in black, navy, beige, and gray shades. Very feminine wash- able silk and cotton blouses with adorable sleeve detail add charm to these lovely suits: With Jackets and Capes | “Frocks greatly approved are the jacket and cape models with contrast effects.
